A little more resume:
From the beginning of my realty career I focused on client service. All my training in construction as well as my dad's sales meetings: taught me, my client is: my King. It is my job to constantly, incessantly seek for more innovative – creative solutions to her unique constellation of criteria to: overpower any challanges he may have. To serve their interests above my own, always. Some may view this as stupid. I say: let them. I have tried other paradigms of empowered principal and, they simply do not work for me.
So what does work for me? Well How about:
An unreasonable committment to success. Fewer that 2% of my listings do not sell, that: my vendor allows to run full term. Industry conservative average is: around 25 - 30%. I've had a number of properties for sale (2 in the last 3 years) that the sellers in their wisdom have elected: to terminate the process. This: is complied with, by us, immediately. With a smile a handshake, and warmharted good wishes. Never forgetting that it was a priviledge to have the opportunity to serve you and hope that you will think of us again.
We are your servants not mercenaries. Our job is to meet or exceed your needs and expectations.
'We keep our word.' Sometimes we fail in this but the exception proves the rule.
We do not give our word lightly: hence it is easier to keep.
We are committed constant learners.
Given: that you give us the opportunity to live consistent with our principals, gratitude flows naturally.
I am ready willing and able to clean toilet bowls. To further your interests.
You give me the opportunity to experience true wealth once again: I love my job.
Mass marketing as a viable sales tool in real estate, never occurred to me. I could not fathom servicing more than seven clients even with help, at any one time. I remember cocktail parties early in my career, talking with realtors doing hundreds of deals a year, ostensibly making millions of dollars in commissions. Many of them remembered their various transactions by the location of the deal – not I noticed: the clients’ name. I took little notice: at the time, thinking: they were worlds of intelligence smarter than me, and more or less left it at that. I deduced (quite accurately I may add) that I was in no position to formulate value judgements at this juncture in my career. But: just quietly marvelled at finesse, the dexterity of these individuals.
Much has happened in the world since my virgin realty days. World Com. Briex. Ernst Young. Salomon Bros. The savings and loan fiasco in the U.S. And a host of other: like issues. The Power utility in Montana is a good one. My favourite, actually. Stocks held for generations: by residents of this State. Considered by all and sundry to be part of their family legacy. Paid dividends: every year for the last hundred years. Suddenly a new 'modern thinking' CEO navigates himself on board. Transformed the holding into insolvency in short order. This: is not what is of interest. This: any idiot can do. What is of interest is that the last remaining shareholder - resources $5M US I believe, gets paid to this erstwhile CEO as a separation package. This 'me first' mentality seems to be spreading like a viral cancer throughout our hemisphere with strident strains heretofore unimagined or at least undisclosed or uncovered by the family of man. Honour: Integrity: Service are: mere platitudes not to be taken seriously, by the sophisticated, educated individual still in possession of the remains, or at minimum, the pretext of intelligence.
We must be careful to be circumspect in our denunciation of our princes of commerce. Far from it for me to advocate egocentric nhilism in this domain. There is a disease that comes from the dog that bites the hand that feeds it. Very useful to stay away from this dog. This disease is contageous. Looks: in full bloom, like rabies. I assert the heart of the matter of both the large picture as well as the micro data need to be fully examined PRIOR to comming to conclusion. For instance: who among the 50 - 60 year old males reading this missive looking truthfully into their own heart of hearts can convict Bill Clinton for his 'flaws of morality' in the challanges he faced during his tenure of service. Who among us would not long for the same temptation to manifest in our lives. Who among us would not acquiesce.
As Victor Hugo has so eloquently remembered for us a Quote from William of Vair after significant challanges faced by the French people in 1588. It reads: It is easy for those accustomed to hang upon the favours of the great, hopping like birds on a tree from evil to good fortune to be bold in defying their prince in his adversity; but for myself, the fortunes of my kings will always be deserving of revrence, and especially in their affliction."
So this is clearly not an effort to paint all officers of public and private concerns with the same brush. Far from it. An individual by the name of Firestein - owner of Polar Tech: an inspiration to anyone taking the time to study his life and times. None of these individuals is without flaw - who is? But what separates the men from the little boys - the women from tne little girls is the 'heart' of their efforts. Many many other (countless numbers actually) of hard working honourable individuals tirelessly spending their creative energies in the service of themselves and their fellows.
Taking upon their shoulders the feeding and housing of thousands of families. I am honoured to know a few of them: consider them as my friends. All of these individuals would cringe if they heard me talking about their purity of heart. There are in point of fact many more princes of commerce that fall into this catergory than the former. They do not consider themselves particularily 'spiritual beings' but as you can see I beg to differ. They consider themselves self serving capitalists: if others benifit good.
I promise you however when push comes to shove, if cash flow is a problem: employee payroll gets covered PRIOR to their pay or executive bonus. Honour is a real gift to us. I have to wonder why we are embarassed to be acknowledged for it. The illusion of weakness? Per chance? This is one of the qualities at the heart: of our corporate princes, there are many more. This and all the other quiet qualities, are what constitute a true princess. The others: the me first crowd, are merely pretenders to the Throne.
Suffice it to say: In contrast this modern 'me first' transformation embarrases me. It should be an embarrassment to us all. It displays: weakness of the most difficult kind to forgive. Betrayal is nothing new. What is new is our mass expectation of it. We are so innurred to it that we consider it to be 'par for the course' in our life. We consider ourselves 'powerless' to defend against it. Our conviviance with it. The weakness: of apathy. This: is the potent heartbreak. The betrayal of my self to act: or choose in my own intelligent best interests: this is the ultimate betrayal. We are as resigned to it as we are resigned to the weather. I declare my self puny and powerless. This is not purity of heart. This is the antithesis of purity of heart. Truth is absent here.
For instance: the Catholic Church has been found wanting in the morals of many her clergy: the really heartbreaking assertion that some dollars will help mitigate these percieved, wounds is consistent with spread of this 'me first' cancer. Even I had the notion (in my fantasy): well I was raised Catholic why not tell a little fib and jump on board. Got to be worth a good $200,000.00. I wonder if it is tax free? I wonder how Paul Martin will author Rev. Canadas' view on these funds.
Fifty years from now who’ll care? A hundred years from now who’ll even remember. Even building a credible case – got to make sure the cleric in question is dead. Not to bear false witness against a living soul. Just in case there is a God. I thought I'd use cheap, legal dexterity in the dominions of Heaven. Clever child.
This is suposed to be my resume not a diatribe of all the ills of the world. We could go on for hundreds of pages in this vein. All this to say: We looked for what was needed and wanted in our world today and made it our committment to produce this. These are: Honour, Integrity, Truth, Trust, Wholesom Profit or Authentic Increase. This is nothing new and we are by no means alone. This is good to know.
The truth is: the Jesuits to whom I was exposed as a youth were honourable, hardworking men of God. Fully invested in doing their utmost with the likes of me: and my impudent attitude. It seems that they do in fact have the last laugh. Much to my overt and covert resistance - their teachings stuck, like reinforced concrete to the screen door of my life. My mind is free to explore any possibility; my conduct is however irritrievably based in service. Jerks!
Chivalry: an archaic discipline outliving its usefulness? Lets ask MIT professor Peter Senge and corporate guru Stephen Covey or Susan O'Dell and Joan Pajunen of Butterfly Customer fame. What is missing in our new armies of commerce where: the real wars of today are fought? Where the true samurai warriors of today live? Both unequivocably concur: Trust is the loadstone to any successful organazation.
I invite you to research Generals of the past; in history it was clear as daylight, that: without Trust: in the General, the army would lose. This was an obvious foregone conclussion, a certainty. Hence: part of the Generals job description was the building of Trust with his men. Who is prepared to die or spend their creative life energies for a cause that does not inspire the finest, the most noble: in me? Who is prepared to charge into battle on the orders of a known, liar and a thief? Where: is the heart of the warrior: hiding, behind his mothers apron strings, or: corporate veil? Who can trust a coward?
Another general, a guy by the name of Jesus, said: Blessed are the pure of heart: for they shall see God. Now in those days no email existed. Moses did not get the ten commandments in an attachment. No jpeg. Spirituality took the place of Survivor, CNN or perhaps Seinfeld today. It was a vitally intrigal, ongoing preoccupation with the guy in the street: the guy in the diner. Knowing or seeing God was tantamount to winning the lottery. What he was saying was: I can do this. I can win the lottery, This is how: Purify my heart. Today we have the absence of purity of heart. We have in its place the compromise of: Vitality reductive, REASONABLNESS. Or pretense - the illusion of increase. The seventh commandment should have read: you cannot steal your way to true wealth. Spiritual Law. This is covered in other papers. Let me know if you have any interest in these.
This is the ONLY reason good help has ever been hard to find. Good Leaders: are even harder to locate. Truth: although difficult a times, pays dividends. Illusion, pretense, entrapment, fear, breed and fertilize: the parasitic in me.
Human resources are the source of all world currency today. Human resources inspired can transform the universe, into the Promised Land: into Nirvanna. Human resources co-opted: invert the substance of all good effort so that vitality drains, by virtue of getting out of bed in the morning. Goes downhill: during the day.
Putting up with ones work, is like getting constant courtesy kisses from ones spouse.
Putting up with the discipline of governance on the part of a General: is a sin.
Napoleon: an inspired and inspiring General. Julius Caesar: ditto. Both saw something needed and wanted in the world, during their lives. Made it their business to produce it. They succeeded. What lives on is not the gold, silver or lands acquired, these are real, powerful, vital, yet transitory benefits. Principals of governance that we take for granted today are what survive long into history. See your kids enjoying childhood, going to school – thank: Napoleon.
He introduced the wild notion, with unprescedented resistance I might add: "dignity of the individual" into law. Child labour laws, prohibiting the exploitation of all children - even the poor. Mandatory: universal education for all citizens. His fellows gratefiully, died for his principals. They trusted him. They trusted his vision of a freer better life for themselves and their children. They trusted him because: he personally paid for it at every opportunity. In every adversity, his genius was: that he found a measure of growth to unfold - unreasonable: forward movement. He did not shelter himself with women and children, with the corporate veil, with lies and illusion. No: he trusted himself. He trusted truth to work for him: and she did.
So trust has proven to have value in the human experience and condition. Both: corporate and personal. The two are irretrievably intertwined. I love the fact that it took 12 years to nag into law in Canada, that: corporate executives can now be held criminally responsable for negligence of saftey standards in the work place. I am far form being a socialist but if I were running this country that process would have taken all of say: 1/2 of 1 second. It cannot be that I am a killer at work and a good husband and father at home. Separation in this domain is an illusion. The problem is: it costs something, are we willing to pay for it? It costs us all the same. Everything: all my illusion. This is where the rubber meets the road of applied metaphysics. This is what separates the women from the little girls. The men: from the little boys.
I assert you can trust this: we have given these precepts significant thought. We have worked hard to come to this deductive reasoning. We are far from finished. We will not stop for you, we promise to leave no stone unturned in your service. For instance: at the cost of about Eighteen Billion Brain Cells: we have begun the process of some sleight mastery in the domain of the 'New Webbased Technology.' We have implemented the most expedient fastest information delivery systems currently available and on earth, short of telapathy today. In short: I invite you to consider, allowing us to earn your trust.
Moreover we are currently implementing a system of qualification of prospects for your property, second to none in any industry; so that those of you that have read thus far will be assured that listing your home, development lands and or business interest with us, while not exposed to multitudes will be poiniently exposed to those: for whom, your asset is germane. Moreover those of you who have read thus far are to be commended for your persistence and skilled self-interest in locating a realtor. This is a wordy and long-winded but necessary introduction to our services. Not so much for where we have been; but what in my view is more important: where we are comming from. This is a key criteria absent in most resumes - not in ours.
Any graduated realtor is qualified to sell your property. Any graduated realtor is competent to sell you a home. Our services are designed for those who value the extra ordinary - not only in themselves but also in those who provide services to their person or orginazation.
Are we perfect? Absolutely not, no need to pretend to be. Will we make mistakes? Absolutely. I promise if there is any cost or loss as a consequence of any negligence in our service to you: we buy, no arguement. Once in a long while I've come close but thus far, providence: seems to smile on our efforts. So far: in eight years, it has cost me $10.00. I too trust truth.
